This module has two parts. The first is titled, ‘Contours of Online Gender-Based Violence’, and it discusses the forms and harms of online gender-based violence (OGBV), highlights how offline realities shape online experiences, and explores the role of social media platforms in perpetuating OGBV. The second part, titled ‘Intersectionality’, discusses the concept of intersectionality and explains the importance of adopting an intersectional lens in adjudicating cases of OGBV in order to appreciate how multiple identities of a person, i.e., gender, sexuality, caste, race, and religion, operate cumulatively and concurrently to shape their experience of OGBV.
